HPUMC Day School Reopening Update | May 22, 2020
Dear Parents,
I am pleased to share our plans to begin reopening the Day School beginning on Monday, June 15th, using a carefully developed, phased approach.
Governor Abbott’s Strike Force to Open Texas has provided a Checklist for Child Care Centers, and Texas Child Care Licensing has provided additional guidance regarding these new health protocols. All child care centers and preschools are required by the state to follow all of these new protocols, including restricted access, limits to classroom group sizes, infection control practices, and prohibited co-mingling of classrooms at any time. Click here to review these protocols.
June 15: Phase One
The task force, particularly our medical professionals, have provided recommendations for precautionary measures for infection control that will be implemented in addition to those required by the state. An updated parent handbook will be provided to you during the first week of June and will detail all new COVID-19 related policies and procedures.
A few key points:
We are excited to begin the process of reopening and cannot wait to see your family in person again!
Stay well!
Amy

Dear Parents,
I am pleased to share our plans to begin reopening the Day School beginning on Monday, June 15th, using a carefully developed, phased approach.

June 15: Phase One
- Day School will open to a limited number of children whose parents have an immediate child care need in order to return to work.
- To help us plan for Phase One attendance and staffing, all parents must complete a survey Wednesday, May 27th. We will confirm Phase One eligibility with parents by June 2nd.
- Hours for children to be in attendance will be reduced to a maximum of 8 hours per day.
- Dropoff times will be scheduled using a reservation system in order to stagger family arrival times.
- June tuition will be prorated for those who qualify for Phase 1. Tuition will be waived for all others.
The task force, particularly our medical professionals, have provided recommendations for precautionary measures for infection control that will be implemented in addition to those required by the state. An updated parent handbook will be provided to you during the first week of June and will detail all new COVID-19 related policies and procedures.
A few key points:
- Day School access will be restricted to staff only to minimize exposure to outside sources.
- Dropoff and pickup will take place outside. Parents are only allowed entrance into the Day School in the event of an emergency.
- All adults are required to wear masks. Teachers are required to wear masks throughout the day. Children are not required to wear masks.
- No-contact temperature checks for children and staff will be required prior to entry.
- Children or staff with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will be sent home.
- Children or staff with signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or low-grade fever will be required to stay home until fully recovered.
- All activities will take place in the child’s classroom with the exception of going to the playground. There will be no co-mingling or combining of classrooms at any time.
We are excited to begin the process of reopening and cannot wait to see your family in person again!
Stay well!
